Dog Training Classes for Sierra Vista

Classes are 45 minutes long, plus 15 min Q&A. Classes are held outside in a fenced ring. Classes are cancelled only when notified by the trainer. There are no classes on Memorial Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day or the weeks of Christmas & New Year's. Class size is limited to 8 dogs with average attendance of 3-5 dogs. All dogs need current annual vaccines, puppies need two sets of vaccines plus a bordetella vaccine. Smart Paws recommends early enrollment of puppies into our carefully screened classes, due to the risk of undersocializing your puppy if you wait until 4 months of age or older.

PUPPY ELEMENTARY
AGE: 8 weeks to 6 months COST: $110 MEETS 6:30 Mondays
Curriculum: 1. Socialize with other dogs, people, new environments
2. Prevent nipping and teach positive bite inhibition
3. Teach proper play, handling & crucial attention skills
Behaviors Include: Puppy Attention, Housebreaking & Rules, Play 101, Come

AWKWARD ACADEMY
AGE: 5 months to 1 year COST: $110 MEETS: 7:30 Monday
Curriculum: 1. Prevent adolescent dogs from becoming obnoxious adults
2. Reduce common habits like pulling, jumping up, ignoring owner
3. Teach owners good control without the use of force or corrections
Behaviors Include: Leash Walking, Come, Go to Your (Place), Leave-it

CANINE COLLEGE
AGE: 1 year and older COST: $125 MEETS:
Curriculum: 1. Remove "rowdy" from your dogs' behavior without force
2. Teach the dog appropriate, positive behavior choices
3. Manage behavior issues and enhance your relationship
Behaviors Include: Attention, Proper Greetings, Leash Walking, Behavior Modification

LEASH LUNGERS ANONYMOUS
AGE: ANY AGE COST: $300 MEETS: TBA
Curriculum: 1. Dog learns to remain calm when strange dogs or people are near
2. Dog learns to tolerate the approach of another dog or person
3. Owner learns excellent safety, handling & management skills
This is a class for reactive dogs who are difficult or impossible to control on walks / in public. The class is taught by a Certified Professional Dog Trainer - KA using positive reinforcement methods. Class fee includes an in-depth orientation for the owners, a private lesson, plus 5 sessions in a higly controlled, safe class environment. **You may attend class at your convenience until you have completed six visits. Your class enrollment is valid for three months. However, if classes become crowded and your attendance has been too sporadic, I may suggest alternative classes/class times to you to avoid overcrowding the current class roster.
