Behavior Modification
$350 for 4 private sessions
$425 for 6 private sessions
$500 for 8 private sessions

Sessions are conducted only in series of 4, 6 or 8 lessons to allow time for dog and owner to adapt to the training method and make progress. These sessions are for owners with dogs that exhibit aggressive, fear behaviors or separation anxiety despite their level of obedience (or lack of it) .  Typical problems include poor reactions toward humans, other dogs and random objects.  Separation anxiety dogs may have destructive behaviors and howl uncontrollably when confined.  It is important to treat even minor problems quickly before a dog develops more severe habits which will cause physical harm.

Each session is one hour long and typically held in the home unless the behavior issue requires a neutral location.  The Certified Behavior Consultant Canine (CBCC-KA) creates a modification/management plan and provides detailed instruction for the owner including:  how to read canine behavior, how to teach calming signals and how to react to in bad situations with the dog.  During the session, both dog trainer and owner will work with the dog in brief, simple exercises.  Breaks are also scheduled to allow the dog to relieve itself, drink water, play or rest to maintain motivation.  The dog's lifestyle will also be reviewed in case changes must be made to increase the effect of the training plan.

Owners must be willing to completely forgo the use of corrections with their dog (yelling, yanking the leash, shock or citronella collars, etc).  Only rewards such as food, toys, play or the removal of an aversive stimulus will be used in training.  Owners must also be willing to accept that modification progress is based on the dog's history and their own handling skills.  Owners that commit to the curriculum and acquire good handling habits will have a greater chance at success and rewriting the history for their dog.  While the dog trainer & owners are working on the behavior modification goals, owners must follow the behavior management plan as well, to prevent a dog from repeating bad behavior during the training phase. The trainer will provide detailed instructions for management and modification.

After the session the owner will receive emails from the trainer containing instructions, advice and any additional homework exercises designed to continue the training plan.  Keep in mind that behavior modification may require a huge commitment from you, the owner, in order to be successful.  Be sure to discuss your concerns and your level of commitment honestly with the trainer so you receive the most appropriate solution.
